Where to find vhf call sign and mmsi number online?

A friend has just called me from Alderney, asking if I can find their vhf call sign and mmsi number.

I've had a quick google, without success, and hope that one or more of the technophiles on here might be able to point me in the right direction.

I know the vessel's name, and the owner's name and address.

but it is on the licence which must be kept near the radio!

They don't have the licence with them for some reason (tut tut).

Interesting link, my boat is shown there with VHF call sign and MMSI number but my epirb is not shown despite having submitd the info some years ago.

It is habitually out of date - we changed the boat name three months ago, and it still hasnt filtered through.

as long as your MMSI and EPIRB are on the MCA database, you are OK, in UK waters at least.

I have disappeared from it. For a time I was listed with a portable radio but no fixed set. Now I have gone altogether!

I understand that if you contact Ofcom they will rectify the situation.

Coincidentally I've just been talking to someone at ITU to get my VHF details corrected. I've been asked to post this e.mail address for anyone else to use if they find something wrong
