I'm still seeking a secondhand 40/50hp outboard and not really getting anywhere but I have noticed quite a few ex RNLI engines for sale
e.g. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=260318595679
Just a reminder if anyone has another source .... 40/50hp - longshaft - electric start - prefer tilt/trim with remote.
Can anyone provide me with the details of a direct RNLI contact please - if such a person/place exists?
Thanks again.

Re: Contact for ex RNLI outboard?
Any Mariner dealer can access these engines look on the E P Barrrus web site for your nearer marriner dealers and try them.

Re: Contact for ex RNLI outboard?
Woods of Crediton has a number of ex-MOD Mariner outboards on offer, POA.
I have no connection.
A Google should bring up their website.Visit MarinaSkip to get rid of your unwanted boaty stuff (and pick up
some more!)

Re: Contact for ex RNLI outboard?
Thanks everyone .....
Rob2858 > Spoke to RNLI and it is very much a 'closed shop' with any surplus engines being offered in the first place to the International Maritime Agency and if not taken up they are offered to RNLI staff. If the staff don't want (very unusual) they are then put in an auction for tenders.
Gordonmc > Spoke to Woods - helpful people but only have ex RNLI shortshaft at the moment - look good value at £500 however they expect more in soon.
Morgana > AC Outboards proving difficult to get hold of but finally managed to leave message on voicemail so will let you know if they have any/reply.
Thanks again.

Re: Contact for ex RNLI outboard?
The Mariner 40s are provided by E.P.Barrus and then sold into the Mariner (and Mercury) dealer network on an occasional basis.
However... they're not electric start and have got high hours compared to an engine used by a leisure customer. There are also carb modifications that are best reversed.
Having run a couple of these on a RIB, I'd suggest care is taken as some engines are much better than others...
