Incidentally, this place was nice and peaceful, but then the guy that you can see standing on the boat, started farting, and destroyed the tranquillity of the moment

Never heard Cherbourg described as 'nice and peaceful' before...... but then in other respects you are right.... the guy on the boat sure can fart......

Re: Your all time favourite destination
I too am not sure if I have a single favourite but I'm very partial to islands, and also to returning to the same place which then becomes "ours". One favourite might be Gudjhem on east Bornholm which is fairly quiet, with lovely walks, interesting food & shops, nearby art galleries, and for some reason we always seem to get into the same little parking-place here;

I like Gravelines. No pretensions, cheap, wholesome, quiet, and 60m from Lidl.
I took a long time deciding about all the exotic locations, but I came back to that.Anger is a wind which blows out the lamp of the mind.

Someone said 'Home' ....... have to say that quite often when world seems to be pressing in ... I can wander down the garden and step on to sit in cockpit with music of choice, beer in hand ... or if really in the mood ... 3 of Gin or Vodka 2 of Vermouth 2 of Cactus juice 1 of lime ........

and just a few yards out into river .....

Nice to get away though !!
