THe trip I will make next year, but in reverse and end up in the Ionian. Fuel in Tunisia is about 0.30 cents a litre. Dunno about this 1.18 a litre.

Re: Return to Spain
When are you planning your Carloforte stop over?
Unfortunately I'll be back there only from May 29th onward, and I guess you'll be there well before that.
I'd second Lozzer suggestion re.fuel, anyway.
The place he's referring to is http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=3...p;t=k&z=18, and the fuel stations are both on the southern part of the bridge. Very convenient when arriving from Tunisia.
There's just one very important thing to consider: the shortest route from the fuel stations to Carloforte is going north, under the bridge (no clearance problems - at worst, if you have a very high aerial you might need to lower it) and through a narrow channel in the lagoon, which is shown by most charts. Trouble is:
1) the channel is very badly marked. In many places, not marked at all;
2) its position is not very accurate in some charts;
3) in some places, 4 or 5 meters XTE can make the difference between a depth of a couple of meters and a couple of feet or even less.
So, unless you have someone onboard who knows the area rather well, I'd strongly suggest to take the longer route heading south and circumnavigating the island of Sant'Antioco, before heading north again towards Carloforte.

Re: Return to Spain
Bit late in posting - v slow internet connections along the route.
Anyway - we are now in Mahon after a very lumpy crossing from Sardinia last night - arriving after midnight - currently we are on the fuel berth waiting for it to open.
The passage from Malta to Tunisia was very manageable and comfortable - tight and rough entry into Sidi Bou Said but we got away in the morning - we were looked after well by the agent.
We then had another good day's run to Carloforte and what fab place - stayed til late afternoon- hence the late arrival in Mahon
Got to go now - the fuel berth has just opened - full report later.
