thanks all, I very carefully drilled the sheared bolt down into the base after checking the depth of thread in the pos terminal , ana cleared enough of the threads to fit a new bolt in down through the top of the broken post and , voila ! it worked . battery now restored to former glory , boathead ,I think if it ever happens again , your soup ladle method is the one I would go for , very logical and simple , thanks .
