Starting price is 3,000, maybe there is a reserve on it.
Is there such a thing as a "bargain" when buying a boat??Last edited by peterbird; 06-12-09 at 16:54. Reason: included link for gif

Bear in mind it could be up to 40 years old, there is no mention of the accommodation and I think many of these were home finished, the petrol engine probably has little residual value. So it may be a bargain but if the owner wants to get rid of it he might have to wait many months to get only a thousand or so more.

Here's another bargain to my way of thinking. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/westerly-longb...item439be1e858.
These 31 foot Westerly's are bullet proof, the only thing I'd woryy about would be condition of engine. The hulls are so overbuilt I wouldn't even worry about osmosis even if it did have a dose! I think, for an older boat, these are the very best and I miss my old Longbow. This particular one is a sloop which is a better bet than the ketch and they're no sluggards either. The wheel steering (for me) is icing on the cake.
I sailed my Longbow across the Atlantic encountering tail end of a late hurricane with wind speeds of 60+ knots and she gave no cause for concern - great boats and this is a great price. No connection to the seller - just nostalgia setting in!
Cheers, Brian.

£3000 plus £5000 fitting a new engine. Now she doesn't look so cheap.
