I have a manual windlass which came with my boat which functions well (despite appearances), but is starting to rust as the galvanising has mostly worn off.
I would like to have it re-galvanised, but need to dismantle it to do so.
has anybody seen one of these before? it looks like the lower shaft is parallel with a key-way, so the warping drum and gypsy should just pull off, but applications of oil, force and heat are just digging the legs of the puller into the steel...
the top shaft also appears parallel, and the body in notched on one side, as if the shaft where meant to pull out with a key in place. But I cannot work out what needs to be removed to draw the shaft.
all suggestions gratefully received....
