Default Sail Repair Tool - Stitch-It-Awl

The Stitch-It-Awl is a hand sewing awl for safely and quickly sewing by hand mainly medium to heavy materials such as sailcloth, canvas, leather, soft luggage, upholstery or webbing. It was developed to solve the problems associated with the use of existing hand sewing devices for heavy materials, such as the needle and leather palm used by sail makers. For full details see

what does the Oz device at £30 do which cannot be done by the UK device at £10 please ?

I'm looking for confirmation that it is technically superior in some way.
I think, therefore I am. I am, therefore I sail.

I made my own from a sewing machine needle and bobin, a piece of broomstick and a choc block connector. cost about 50 pence.
