Mercruiser v8 - engine dies then wont restart

Have you checked the fuel tank breather/cap, Russell?

Had a similar problem on a 4.3 years ago. Finally found a small plastic gauze filter behind the large fuel inlet pipe into the carburettor. Gauze had blocked as dried out over winter and cut engine with debris blockage after 10 minutes idle. Worth a look if similar carb....

Turned out to be a problem with the electronic ignition sensor arm in the distributor cap. Had that and the coil replaced and all has been well ever since.
