    Default rating threads?

Can someone tell me how to rate threads? Whenever I click on the rate thread button it tells me that I have already voted. I have never yet voted!

Think the option was disabled long ago to stop rows occuring from it.....heaven knows why anyone would think that would happen here !

Apparently I have already rated this thread.

So either you can only rate your own threads, or it only accepts the first rating.

I've just rated a Lounge thread, giving 4 stars to the Lakesailor's Fiat video clip. This is how I did it:

Right click on "Rate Thread" button on bar at top of thread.

Select "open thread in new window"

The new window opens at the bottom of the relevant thread, displaying a box marked "Rate This Thread".

Choose the relevant rating from the drop down menu.

Close the window and return to the forum.

I have no idea whether this is the 'proper' way but it seems to work.

It doesn't really work - one person rates a thread and thats it - no-one else can do anything to vary that rating. So whats the point?

So what happens if a thread starts off well but then deteriorates into an acrimonious row? (I know it rarely happens but . . . . )

    Have you tried my suggestion?

I can add my rating to an already-rated thread.

For example, I went to Bav34's Lounge thread about a popular YouTube clip. Before I rated it there was a 5* rating. I added a low mark which brought the overall rating down to 3*.

The overall thread rating is presumably a simple arithmetic average of the scores of everyone that's bothered to rate it.

I am surprised you can do that. My experience is if I click on the rate thread button above I am told i have already rated this thread and consequently I can not enter a new rating. tried that on several threads now I dont bother any more.

Try a thread without a rating. If you are first to rate it works otherwise everyone else gets the same message you got!
