    Default Hythe pier insurance claim

Can anyone explain why the insurance payout for the Hythe Pier might have a ceiling of 175,000 when the estimated cost is 300,000?

No. It would appear that the insurance companies worldwide have agreed a maximum payout to keep down insurance costs but I have never heard anything about this. Also if this is the case it could be the end of the pier and the ferry.

    ParaHandy

Do you mean that they should moor it parallel to the shore in future?

that would help ... alternatively sink the pier which was what the dredger was trying to do ...

Well as they now have 2 piers they should claim 150,000 for each. Problem solved!

A dredger rammed it about a month ago and knocked a 50' hole in it.
