Whatever rings yer bell mate! I much prefer the peace and tranquility of sail myself, but I know it's not for everybody. Being retired, I don't have to be anywhere yesterday, and that's kind of nice.

I can see why you might find it exciting, but what is satisfying about a bloody great rooster tail?

Funny, I can't see the exciting part of the rooster tail per se, but I do see the satisfying side of the equation - namely, speed.
Surface transmissions/props are the most efficient system known to mankind for going fast on the water.
If you think anyone would fork out the dosh necessary for these equipment just for the sake of some show off, you obviously don't know how expensive they are...
