    Smile Another way of looking at it.......

    In order to sort it out, you need to follow the money and see where it ends up:

    The three men each have a pound = 3 pounds
    The lad in the office has 2 pounds
    The marina till still has 25 pounds

    The total is 30 pounds. No missing pound!

    Don't read this if you dont want the answer...

    The money is all correct, the error is in this statement:

    the men have indeed paid 27 (25 for the mooring and 2 to the lad) but as the lad's money is in the 27, it is erroneous to do 27 + 2 to get 29. The final sum should be 27 + 3 change = 30.

    Net effect :
    Crew -27
    Marina +25
    Boy +2
