One of my recent acquisitions from the skip!
Apart from it's original intended use, I had thought to purchase a boat hook fitting and convert it to a short telescopic boathook (you can never have too many boathooks - well up to a point)

Looks similar to a window cleaning tool that I threw away. The one I had was hollow tube with a hose connection which extended and locked by twisting the black plastic centre piece.
Mine was a squeejee and wiper blade.
I'd thought of using it for a quick long-reach scrubber for the underwater scrub off weed/slime on the boat, but never followed through.

Its part of a sponge mop.
The sponge mop is squeezed out by being pulled up between the rollers.
The mop head and all the gubbins for operating it is missing.
Ours will probably be in a skip soon......swmbo does not have the strength in her wrists and hands to operate it any more ... I cant see the point of cleaning floors.... they only get dirty again when I next come in in my welliesLast edited by VicS; 30-12-12 at 22:39.

I should have mentioned that I found it in the marina skip, and as it has a piece of small diameter marine cordage attached with a bowline, I had assumed that it had come from a boat.

I bought something like that from the pound shop, it lasted 2 seasons as a tiller extension
. I sold the boat with the spare so they could use it the next year..
Very handy it was with infinite adjustment you could use it to set her up just right with the tiller extension against the cockpit combing she held a very good course...

Thanks for the information. I will definitely be converting it to a short boathook - it is 1m long extended so handy for the cockpit for retrieving hats, fenders etc.,
Cheers,
