There is a lot of problem with Italian motorbikes of relatively recent vintage - bikes from Ducati and Aprillia for example. The plastic tanks are deforming. See http://deformedfueltanks.com/

Funnily enough my son has a rotax powered bike, a BMW 650gs, and very good it is. Light for 650, tons of torque, and it revs well.

Does about 60 mpg at 70-80 mph.

9/10..,,,,. Slightly too heavy for a proper adventure bike at 180 kg.

The rotax 912 is just 2 of those engines shoved together
    TBO is 1200hrs /10 years not 500hrs

In still air I get 30mpg at 90mph but get there in 1/2 the time.

Seem to remember my Piper archer 181 180 hp ( in my last reincarnation when I still had a few bob) cruised at 115 kts at 2400 revs, iirc about 7 gals hr / 16 mpg.......

Just shows how advanced your rotax is....twice the fuel consumtion!

90 mph cruise is fast......is it a super light a/c or microlite?

I have run my '81 Porsche 928s on ethanol fuel for well over 10 years, loves the stuff. My Mercedes E280 also loves it. I try not to use it in my outboard and lawnmower simply because it does absorb water. I have heard the stories over the years but have never actually met anyone who has experienced a problem. The ratio here is E10 and once the level reaches 10% the bowser has to be marked. Less than that and you may be buying ethanol and not be aware of it.

Just realised that I have a four stroke generator with the same Chinese motor that's fitted to those mini bikes. Seems to enjoy ethanol.
