The water points are shown on the map at http://www.scottishcanals.co.uk/medi...rs%20guide.pdf
On first glance I've seen 10, but there may be more.

Are you sure. I think I read about it on Bluemoment.

There are other verses to the MoK song...

Oh the Mull of Kintyre for me...
I do like the wide open sea,
    The canal is too dear
    I'll not shed a tear
While saving a pound or three,
By sailing the long way by Sanda,
And giving Isle Rathlin a gander
    Macrihanish and Gigha
    For me it's no fear
The Mull of Kintyre for me.

The Mull of Kintyre for me,
Its not so terrific just like the Pacific
and closer than Japan or Fiji,
A life on the Spanish Main
    Would never drive me insane
    The big foaming breakers
    Don't spoil my chart papers
The Mull of Kintyre for me.

The Mull of Kintyre for me,
Its certainly big and not wee,
Sometimes it is calm, enough to fry ham
and I do like a nice cup of tea,
    You can darn your socks,
    While avoiding its rocks.
The Mull of Kintyre for me

The Mull of Kintyre for me,
From robbers and thieves you are free
There's no pricey sale that would make you turn pale
And shiver and shake at the knee
    Past Arranmans spinnin'
    I'm binnin' the Crinan
The Mull of Kintyre for me.

Having refreshed my memory we stopped at the water point immediately after bonnybridge lift bridge and by the time we had filled up and then reached loch 17, our escorts had given up and gone home

The issue was this was a narrowboat with 8 people on board and all the winim were moaning they wanted a shower and were not prepared to wait until the next water point after the locks.

As you are escorted through the bridge and then the locks, it makes that water point unusable without upsetting your escorts.

Crinan price last year for us (11M) was about 115. This year, same boat is 175 according to website.

I was only trying to help by answering your question about where else you could have got water!
There does seem to be a sparcity of showers on the map, but not everybody has the good fortune to have a boat full of winim.

If you didn't tell the escorts what was going on (perhaps you did) then I am not surprised they toodled off.

It was a case of "oh look there's a water point" (from one of the wimin) so yes we did make a hasty unscheduled stop.

Unfortunately each of the wimin came with a partner.
