It is never too late to have a happy childhood. Buy a boat.

Seen it before and just started watching again, those first few words - excitement, adventure, FREEDOM!!

Inspiring. I'll bookmark that and watch it when I get fed up doing a major refit alone in a Portuguese boatyard.

    Thanks!!!

Being honest, like Dylan , I prefer them both just to concentrate on the sailing and the cruising.

    Good luck to her though.

Half way though it does get more poignant. Then again, we can do our best and still be happy despite the problems the species faces. and TED isn't really a platform for "look at me sailing" ..
    Least she gives a shit

I love the way she uses "we" when talking about being tossed about in the southern ocean - she and the boat were a single entity.

Thanks for posting - Ellen makes a great case for the circular economy. According to the BP, oil will last 50 years, gas 52 years and coal 153 at current levels of production.

I do like Ellen, sometimes she grates me, but I think this is because the things that get to me are then things I see myself doing/saying (must be a sailor thing).

I do agree that things must change, I'm no sure how much resistance to change there will be but the gig economy is showing the way. I'm just afraid it's going to be the Google's, Amazon, Apple's owning much of it and we'll be slaves to a handful of big corporations running our infrastructure and utilities profit.

Another Ted Talk I enjoyed was Laura Dekker's
