It keeps being delayed. February 2018 is the latest prediction I believe.

Agreed Pete - Feels like I've been waiting years for this!

I’m sensing it could be one of those films I will find irritating. No idea why. I found the Robert Redford one irritating and stopped watching after about 20 or 30 minutes. Captain Philips held me to the end, and left me wanting more.

and then 2 come along at once.

Studiocanal accidentally ended up with 2 Donald Crowhurst movies slated for release at the same time, the stars of the big budget one were all busy on more important releases this autumn so it was slipped and the budget one did the rounds at the film festivals.

It looks like both will be general released within 2 weeks of each other in the Spring. However, The Mercy will need a World Premiere soon or it'll miss the cut off date.

That’s because it wasn’t about boats and seamanship.

Capt Philips's crew were less than complementary about the film. Apparently he was a bit of a have a go hero, and it was the chief engineer who really saved the day.

I thought the film A Hijacking was better: more emotive, tenser, more culturally realistic, less Hollywood crass. It’s in Danish but subtitled and with most of the screenplay in the marine international language of English anyway. Available online and a good watch. Just don’t watch it while sailing up the Thames estuary after dark as I did...
