    Default Recommended Croatian Anchorages

Planning a few weeks in the Split area of Croatia in June. Would welcome any recommendations for stunning and not too commercialised anchorages (not marinas). Thanks in advance.

June is a great time to go. Quiet compared to July and August and a bit cooler. There are so many anchorages/mooring buoys available at that time of the year but some of the ones which you can do in June without stressing about whether you will find space are, Krk Falls (past Sibenik, up the river, across the lake, anchor opposite Skradin Marina). Hvar (anchor/mooring buoy in the bay), Bol (anchor off Zlati Rat).

Over the years, several of us have contributed to this map:

It should give you plenty of ideas.

So so many - krknasje on Drvenik Veli is a must do for us - in 3m turquoise near the shore.Pokrovenik on north shore of Hvar is stunning and Badija by Korcula town has a sumptuous view of the mountains and acres of space to anchor. Tonight we are more in the thick of it on Hvar Town quay.

We have a Google Earth KML file of many Croatian Anchorages, mostly from cruisers who have been there in the last three years and also updated with our experiences last summer. Almost all the recent anchorages documented are free of any charges.

If anyone wants a copy just pm your email address to me and I will forward it to you.

Am also off to Split but late September

I have picked up this itinerary off a charter site which is ambitious if the weather turns inclement:

Our favourite anchorage was on the South side of Šćedro.
