    Default Matsutec HP-33A

My HP-33A is bust. Anyone - perhaps upgrading to a plotter - like to sell me one? Cash waiting!

First of all by switching on whenever power was applied, which was irritating but not fatal. Now it loses GPS fix frequently (despite showing a full constellation of satellites) and does a cold GPS restart every time it's switched on.Looks as if it is constantly forgetting ephemeris data.

It's otherwise a great piece of kit, which is why I want a replacement.

Is there a watch type battery inside by chance?

Interesting question. I've brought it home and will attack it next week, on the "nothing to lose" principle.

Hi, could try a firmware reload. There's a thread called "Matsutec HP-33A AIS Transponder: Firmware Update" with a few details and an email address on the last post for the manufacturer's contact.
