I hope those hinges and rivets are stainless? Might be workable for a dinghy if so. I have a folding grapnel thingy.

It looks a similar idea to the box anchor.

This anchor is suitable for boats up to 70 feet in the larger size. They even have photos on the website showing how the anchor should be deployed .

Like a CQR, Fortress and Danforth - ideal to chop the ends of your fingers off on a wild and stormy night.

But until you actually try some of these things - you, in this case me, is simply guessing and guessing throws up the wrong answers too many times.

Perhaps someone will be along shortly saying they’ll sue for stealing the name or pointing out that they can build one for $1.50 in ten minutes from scrap out of the marina skip.

In the world of anchor oddities this one is my favorite.

It has springs, levers everything an engineer could want. The whole fluke can rotate independently of the shank position. Here you can see the fluke almost 180 from the normal position to face in the opposite direction.
    Amazing.

One folding design that actually works is the Northill, though the protruding upper fluke makes it a fouling risk. Not common outside the US.
