again in Spanish from yesterday's news. (Google translated, but I understand it covers the seabed surrounding the balearics, not just the specified areas in the previous map) https://ultimahora.es/noticias/local...posidonia.html

Apologies for revisiting this - but after a week or so has anyone had issues or places they now avoid in mallorca?

I do not know how big is the Posidionia zone, but Germans and Brits should really leave Spain and its island rotten and no yacht to be seen in around its coast for a decade.
May be that way they understand the economic impact of it all.
I mean they always come with something new and beyond all EU rules and so on against motor boating. If boating is a problem in Spain they should ban it.

Sat here now at 9:40 pm on the dark and had a sea grass patrol.

Anchor is on the sand ( intentional ) chain on grass. Asked me to move in the morning.

I drift back so to be honest I didn’t know I was over weed.

So they are serious about the weed !

On the mainland they clearly couldn't care less. Sea grass everywhere. Impossible to police effectively
However this afternoon we were very diligent and dropped the anchor in sand, doing my bit for the environment etc.

Yep - same question from me.

    Thinking about it.
In windy conditions, we use Santa Ponsa and Palmanova.
Often when one is exposed the other is safe.
Santa Ponsa has very little weed so should be ok.
But there isn't really any sand in Palmanova and is a regular anchorage for lots of boats.
Are they really pushing boats away from Palmanova?

I am in Cala molto which is east coast 20 miles or so south of alcudia

There are very few all sand Cala.

Also as it includes chain and boats swing ( I am currently now over sand with 30m of chain out ) unless I do some sweeping survey of the area ( and I assume just as it is not clear sand does not mean it is weed ) finding an area to drop with no weed in any direction for 30m becomes tricky ( well actually in practical terms almost impossible )
