    It's oscillations in tidal basins and coastal topography that determine the tides we see. However as the continents move there'll also be areas where the tides get smaller.

    The problem is imminent as some of these continents are whizzing around at speeds as high as 3 or 4 cm per year so best check your mooring.

    PS and your insurance probably excludes the effects of continental drift too.

    Hmmm... they do seem to be talking in terms of millions of years - I don't think I'll be too concerned!
