Patrons will have had an email update that the frame raising party has made excellent progress.

Anyone here going to the talk in London later this month?

Wish I could, but I gather it’s sold out!

The venue (the RORC) rather confirms my assumption about a Fastnet entry in due course. Suspect Jolie Brise and Dorade will be along, too.

I'd expect "Duet" (aka "the Trust Fund Babe" - she has her very own Trust Fund to take care of her) to be along, too - she has done Old Gaffers' Fastnets in the past, as hase Jolie Brise iirc)

Interesting talk. 1/3 the history of the boat, 1/3 Leo, 1/3 the restoration.

2025 (centenary of first) Fastnet or 2027 (centenary of Tally Ho's win) is on the cards.
Use after restoration finished something community based. Sailing.
There was a camera at the back recording everything, so I would think that the whole thing (2 hours or so) will get uploaded at some point.

Being a Patron doesn’t really entitle me to anything except:

My boat’s name in a book he’s going to carry onboard

Emails with content I think I see on FaceBook anyway.

A great deal of satisfaction derived from knowing I’m helping a worthwhile guy with a worthwhile project.

The inalienable right to know if Cecca is rejoining him

Oh, and you can spill the beans on what happened to his finger if you want to.

    But, Cecca

I'm told that there might be a second talk, in Cowes being planned.

    Jolie Brise -
    https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...:JOLIE%20BRISE
was in the 1993 Fastnet - we were sailing against her on Stormy Weather.
    https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...ORMY%20WEATHER

Jolie retired at some stage - I think probably because it was a beat the whole way down channel (I remember seeing her stomping along with the main well reefed, but not very close winded), and then we had a Force 7 on the nose all the way to the Fastnet. A bit too boisterous for my liking really.

That would be brilliant if Dorade (and perhaps even Stormy) could take part in this special Fastnet as well.
Although Stormy now lives in the lap of luxury in the South of France. She won the Fastnet in the early 30's, soon after she was built, and she has been in various others since. Paul owned her for more than 20 years, and during that time he made almost 40 transatlantic passages with her. He still keeps his original website for her going.

With a detailed account of her history and re-build here (not quite as much work required as Tally Ho, but still substantial)

Marinetraffic hasn't 'seen' Dorade since September last year, when she was in Newport - I wonder where she is now?
