When did this get added? The swell in the harbour on the long visitors pontoon coupled with wash from speeding commeercial vessels are major reasons for us avoiding Ramsgit in the past.
Maybe they've had to up their game with Dover improving leisure facilities,

What do you mean Ramsgate is a hole? I think it's a charming and characterful town and port.

It must be upper class as it has a Waitrose

How will spending a shed load of public money on facilitating a service that has no prospects help Ramsgate?

Having had at home only a Waitrose for years, until later joined by a Tesco - and with but a very small Sainsbury even now - I rather like going to Sainsbury in Ipswich for a change and have yet to try its new Waitrose. Variety is the spice of life, even in supermarkets.

Waitrose has a good choice of whiskies and their single-source chocolates are good but otherwise all I see along the shelves are miles of packaging. Added to this, it's always too b cold inside. Almost no supermarket food seems to taste of anything much, bread, sausages, fruit, you name it, when compared to the real thing from specialist sources.

Ramsgate can be irritating at times but if it didn't exist it would have to be invented.

My comment was largely about the supposed class aspect of supermarkets. I’m sure that there is truth in it, but such is the uniformity of which you speak that I find it often overdone.

I'm sure that there is a hierarchy of supermarkets for those that are sensitive about such things. I can't think of anything we (she) have bought in Waitrose that justified a premium price, and much that was disappointing. On the other hand, the best lamb chops I can remember came from an Asda (Eastbourne), and our neighbour gets perfectly decent meat from Aldi. I have always disliked Sainsbury's for no very rational reason. Most of our basic stuff comes from a nearby Coop.

Much underrated, Aldi. I've bought some excellent stuff in there. Our Christmas pud came from there this time as wife wasn't well and never got round to making one - she reckoned it was better than any she'd ever made, and believe me her's were really good...
