A bit premature perhaps, but just over 20 years ago, 13th June 1998, one bold sailor took a chance too many in a choppy sea. A cautionary tale.

It's always ourself We find in the sea.
A chilling story. The worst fright I ever had on my boat was when passing tiers around the mainsail in a disturbed sea. I had failed to properly secure the mainsheet and the boom swung away with me hanging onto it. I should have had the presence of mind to let go immediately and drop onto the coachroof but it all happened so quickly I didn't have time to think.
