Wheres the pedals? No pedals its a motorbike requiring Registration, Tax and Insurance to be used on the roads anywhere in EU.

It seemed to be being ridden under power only. Thats illegal too across EU, except in UK where pre 2016 we were allowed sell and use power only machines, provded they were speed limited to 15mph and a motor of not more than 250watts power. We can still use them, but anything sold since can only work as a pedal assisted bike, with the same speed and power restrictions.

So where's the pedals? I think these may only be legal in America, which takes a more enlightened view of Ebikes!

I may have been unlucky but my experience is that 2years is about it for a battery and they don't half cost a lot to replace.

In truth, is it likely that you would be stopped for riding this? …personally I doubt it

I've found a great deal depends on the build quality of a Lithium battery. My first Ebike was several years old and came with a battery that was running at about 85% capacity. After 18 months regular use it was down to about 75%, and even now has enough to do around 15miles even when Im feeling lazy! I bought a replacement for about half the price of a new one - about £250. After 12 months of the same level of use, its lazier than the original, and will barely make 13 miles or so. Definitely a false economy!

Yes. . Plod do look out for this, because you are driving without tax and insurance, and that looks good on detection rates. Same with overpowered Ebikes. If you are doing 25 - 30mph with a more powerful motor and no speed limiter, they will pull you. Iknow of several cases. Gendarmerie dont seem to be interested unless you are doing something obviously stupid, but Im told Policia in Spain are quite hot on checking Ebike compliance. Dont know about other EU countries.

Probably not. It's about time UK law caught up with modern technology, but the law makers are all tied up with other matters.
