Break the journey at Shepperton marina, that is if you're going to be a Harleyford customer - same group reciprocal arrangements.

Once you're at HF, you won't want to g downstream ever again.......
Suspect this particular trip might be a paid for boat delivery job using a professional skipper ?

Molesey is due to reopen 1st March.

Bell Weir is open but seems to be hand wind at all times of day it looks like power has been turned off in the lock office.

5mph SOG and 15 minutes per lock teddington to Harleyford is about 14 hours.

Canalplan.org.uk is a pretty effective planner including rivers. Some alterations to the default speed settings for rivers will be needed.

We went through Bell Weir lock yesterday and it was on hand wind. The upstream gates were almost unworkable by hand. The lock keeper refused to leave his office and assist. V rude.

Definitely some problems at Bell weir. The biggest danger is that people hand winding don't open the gates all the way specially with the problems with the selector lever making it intermittent and a nuisance. Just enough to get boat through.

Result is gates are left hanging on the rams and there is a danger of heavier boats like barges or narrow boats hitting the partly open gates. A recipe for trouble
Bell weir and Romney public power need sorting asap or there are going to be problems.

I'm not a big fan of out of hours public power generally but its been the norm for a while now and people expect it. Denying it on two of the largest locks on the River is going to lead to problems.

    Needs sorting.
