    Unhappy Bowman OM636 Heat Exchanger

    Hi,
My Heat exchanger has developed a corrosive hole which I doubt can be repaired.
    Seeking replacement.

Depending where the hole is , the standard way to repair is to solder close one of the tubes, both ends.

Thanks for your interest. I did not explain correctly, the hole is inside the water jacket of the Exchanger (Die cast Aluminum) not in the tube.

If you can't get one. You can use a umiversal heat exchanger mounted on the bulkhead and connect to the engine with hoses. Works just the same as the engine mounted version.

    Thanks for advice.
The hole is to the inner tube and really cannot be reached. There is also a fair bit of visible corrosion elsewhere.
The universal heat exchanger is interesting but would not get any cooling on the exhaust manifold which would create a lot of heat. Apparently a new casing is available on order, so I am going to have to go there.
    Thanks again.

Ah, you didn't mention it was a combined unit!

How much is the new replacement ?.There should be plenty of scrap engines about if you could locate them. Some years ago went to Sunbury on Thames with a friend to look at an open launch with that engine & the seller had two complete units under a sheet in the garden.
