Now he tells me! The boat is in Brittany and the sprayhood is in my back garden drying after just being anointed with Fabsil.

+1. After being mightily hacked off by that Volvo thread I was delighted to see what the OP spulchucker did to the thread title

That's good because I bought 3 x 2 litres for 6 , which is less than the coat of 1 x 2.5litres of patio magic.

I wouldn't use washing up liquid for anything other than washing up.

Thanks for the advice and the jokes!

That Doff stuff sounds good, I hope Aldi in Santanyi sell it. For the chemical nerds (like me) the active ingredient is N-Alkyl-N-benzyl-N,N-dimethylammonium chloride. A quaternary ammonium compound. Essentially it kills algae and inhibits regrowth. Wet and forget has the same active ingredient but probably at a different concentration.

My mother used to shampoo our hair with it when we were kids. Nearly 80 years on and I still have a full head of hair.

I try to avoid getting fabsil on the plastic windows, but some does and over the years I haven't noticed any problems. The cover is cleaned each year and reproofed.

For cleaning the windows of the canvas canopy , after first removing any dirt using water and detergent and drying off , try 'Pledge' and polish off with a soft cloth.
