Default AIS vessel details - when you get the decimal place wrong

Big ship in the Hamble this morning - or a decimal point in the wrong place?

A lot of vessels have wrong info. Yachts seem to default to 33ft but I have seen many ship-sized ones and ships half a mile long.

581x70 even if you move the point doesn't look right.

With the IoW ferries you often see them reversing across the solent between Lymington and Yarmouth having forgot to switch over from stern to bow!

When I looked him up on Vessel Finder yesterday length and beam were not stated. So somebody was probably trying to set up the transponder and gave up!
