    Default Kad32

Hi, new to forum so hello
Kad32 in a RIB which, due to life getting in the way, didn't get used for best part of two years. We gave it a service, winterized it and then it was wrapped in a tarpaulin and left in a field. Now moved to present location in the boat yard where it was found to have rain water up to deck in engine compartment. Just below anything electronic but not the best environment for the engine!
Anyways, we charged the batteries, replaced seized solid alternator and...it started first time, it's never started first time, didn't even need a bit of throttle!!! Run it in a tub for a while and was fine.
Got back from a sea trial and it's started rough idling, engine started jumping about like a mount had given way and it was about to stall. And when you turn it off it lets out this huge burp from the airbox..it does that when coming off the plane as revs drop but not from being turned off at tickover!?Behaves at high revs, compressor kicks in and out. Just tickover is not good.
Waiting for some cleaning stuff for the diesel in case of water and will add injector cleaner.
What else would one check to see if it's sticking, stuck, letting the side down!?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

I take it you changed the engine and supercharger oils? Belts ok? Have you looked at fuel filters? Blocked ones more likely to be an issue at high revs though but water perhaps. Can you check compression? Maybe a sticky valve?

All oils were changed. Going down Sunday with the owners manual as new belts were put on but not checked for correct tension. Mates got a tool that does this but not sure how that works but we shall see...
Will have to get a mechanic to check compression so would like to try everything else first.
Fuel filter is new. Plan on jigging up a way to put in fresh fuel from a container, see what that does. Thanks for the reply.

Tensioned belts using a digital belt tensioner tool...then gave that up as a bad job and tensioned them old skool.
In the black box though were two really bad connections. It's an old boat and somewhere along the line the wires were cut and put back together..badly, so under the shrink wrap, a wire from the diesel pump was hanging by a thread.
Soldered up bad connections, shrink wrapped and engine is sweet.

Yes indeed and if you are not careful you can be advised on here to do a complete engine rebuild when all it was was a poor earth or bad connection as you found out...…. Minefield of potential cost
