So I wonder if people know of suitable cheap-or at least affordable-places they can tell me about? I'm thinking maybe up the Itchen? I don't care if it's industrial or a working yard or what the view from my window will be.
    Bottom line is cost.
Also a swinging mooring is out as l need to commute every day and don't want to start/finish with a dinghy ride.
Here's a link in case anyone is interested :-)

I can't help on mooring location but you said "trying to sell". Do you mean fettling then trying to sell that 48 footer? My $0.02 worth is that she will never sell, so just don't buy it in the first place. Even if you bought it for just £1, you would spend 3x to add 1x of re-sale value. Some things really do need to be scrapped.

yes, we own it. And have had a couple of silly offers. So 'she will never sell' seems a little harsh....

You obviously do not berth here ! OK Anthony has a certain manner, but your post is completely unfair on this excellent yard.

I'd try Eastlands..last marina on the Hamble and yes you will get under the bridge at low tide!

Deep water and good road links and about £10.25 per meter per month..that's about what i pay anyway.

Nice and quiet and clean marina with good secure parking.
