    Default Dodged a bullet.

Just the last few feet to go, stern to into a fairly tight berth at northney.
Tick the port engine forward as the final gesture and the cable snapped leaving me in forward gear.
Itís funny how the brain takes a while to register. Boat going forward, go astern. Still going forward, add a few RPM astern. Doh!
My crew for the day is an able skipper himself and got the sternline made fast sharpish just before I killed the engine.
    No damage.
    Phew.

The timing on that one could have been a lot worse!

I was in a couple of tight situations earlier today with a fast stream. Watched a rassey make a complete balls up and hit about 4 boats. You couldn’t be more right in that statement. Still a bit shaken TBH.

I’ve seen the collars shake loose on cables before but I’ve learned that one. This cable is less than 5 years old, only 1.5m long and not stiff at all. The gear selector on the gearbox operates with a little finger. No warning and no external visible signs at all. Worrying.
