Question How to get antifoul off without sand blasting?

Q: What's the best way to get my antipodal primer off prior toncopper coat? It's stuck fast!

Long story: Ok so I know sand blasting is the preferred choice but where I am currently that isn't an option. Also most of the antifoul has gone and the rest been jet washed off but remaining is the grey primer which was put on after green Gel Shield about 5 years ago. See photo below of the self and rudder where I've tried scraping and even my Makita orbit sander with 40 grit won't really do much. At this rate I'd be here for weeks.

    Any advice?

With blasting off the cards, i’d just keep at it with the sander but try different pads as they may be letting you down?

Move the boat to somewhere that will allow blasting.

Ian it possible that the grey is an epoxy primer of some sort and not a single pack paint primer? I've tried to remove with acetone and although it will make a slight grey mark on a white cloth I can't remove it with acetone alone.

Sounds like you need to buy a scraper. Recent thread here - http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread...-removal-ideas!

Peelaway, I know a few people who have used it in the last 12 months and been happy, just need to make sure it is warm enough.
