    Default A5 Plastic "Paper" Printing

    Hello,

I was on a charter boat and they had instruction notices printed on a white plastic sheet, A5, matt finish, slight surface roughness, about 1mm thick tops, stiff. The ink gave a crisp and clear, colour fast text. The notices were for VHF procedure, for example.

I have tried googling but failed to find something. It's probably really obvious! Does anyone know what I am describing, pic below?

    Thanks,

    BlowingOldBoots

You can easily buy waterproof plastic paper for use with laser printers, either plain or adhesive-backed.

    Zecom paper. Several stockists.

I used to use it for Dook of Embra work.

Be slightly careful if you are printing many copies, as the laminate goes tacky if the printer roller become too hot.
I think, therefore I am. I am, therefore I sail.

Thanks pvb, googling "waterproof plastic paper" was the phrase (obvious now), and one of the products is Toughprint which looks like the material in the picture.

Thanks for the tip sarabande, only for light use.

I'll buy a ream and see how it works out.

Isn't that just an acetate sheet?

You need 500 sheets of instructions for your boat?!

Remember that most inkjet inks are water soluble. I have used them though with a sealing spray that worked well. For most things though the quick and easy solution is to laminate them, and you can get the pockets in many sizes

Any sign shop will print for you onto white glossy stickyback vinyl, in any colour you like (even colour photos). Same stuff as van graphics. Any size from A4 to side-of-a-quite-big-van. Doesn't fade (some of mine outdoors 13 years old).

I also occasionally use A4 laser printer sticky-mylar sheets, but black on white only and a satin finish.

My laminator packed up (actually jammed because I put photos that were too thick through it!) so now I just use an iron.
    Enjoy your sailing,
