    Great sailor, RIP. And great sailmaker.

    However Lowell North sold North Sails in the 1980s and it was Terry Kohler who built up the hugely successful high tech sailmaker that is North Sails today


    PS. Nobody but a New York journalist would consider the weird hard chine, no spinnaker Star to be anywhere near a “Formula One of sailing”. At the time the Flying Dutchman might have been considered as this, but the C Class Little America’s Cup boat’s more likely
