    Cool Weather in july

Given current wet weather just thought I might check out thoughts to see if any sites with some valueto look for predictions in mid July or when such views might have validity? Does a view at end of June as to prospects for mid July have any validity so far as crossing channel is concerned ? I read SKeeling sometimes but when might one form a view ? Which weather guru does add value or are they all as much use as hanging up a piece of seaweed at a 2 week ranage?
If July is a wash out any thoughts on alternate solutions at short notice for last minute sailing break somewhere drier ? Montenegro sailing maybe?

I've been pondering the same questions. I'm still on the hard and have things to complete before I can do any sailing. The way it's looking whatever I decide it's not going to be a dry voyage.
I fancied a wander down the Portugese coast and on to the Canaries but theses wind patterns seem to be all against it.
Is there a closet Michael Fish out there to reassure us?

    Unfortunately not

Beyond a week or so you might as well look at the seaweed .

By the sound of it you want a fairly specific forecast so why don't you look at the computer model forecasts?

The one I use is Ventusky but I believe there are others. Currently that is giving forecasts for the next nine days.

    https://www.ventusky.com/?p=51.4;1.6;3&l=rain-3h

Down on the bottom LH area you can change the date and get all sorts of information: swell, wave height, current, wind speed, rain (precipitation), temperature etc.

Or park your boat in Portugal and get a cheap flight from time to time.

Here's a long range forecast. In the UK a warm winter is followed by a krap summer & a cool winter is followed by a good summer. The winter just gone was warm. Therefore July will be mostly wet, windy & cool with a few reasonable days interspersed.

All to do with the temperature of the ocean which governs the extent of the Azores high which controls the position of the jet stream which brings the tail end of the tropical storms from the west Atlantic. At the moment we are getting battered by them all & it will continue until September.

This is the best all-round site I've found:

    http://www.wetterzentrale.de/en/topk...del=gfs&lid=OP

You get to chose your model, forecast parameter, geographical area, etc. Some models forecast out over 1 week but I wouldn't say they're terribly accurate but can give a rough idea.

    I found this honesty refreshing:

“so we know if it will be a hot or cold summer, more dry or humid, but not if it will rain on July 14th at 2.30pm”

    from

    https://www.thelocal.fr/20190613/for...rive-in-france

Bizarrely though the forecasters still try to predict July 14th at 2.30pm
