Default Getting a caravan from Brixham to the Algarve

i have a pal in Portugal that needs a 6.5m 2 berth caravan moving over to the Algarve as due to unforseen circumstances he needs it to live in.

It is just the caravan, no vehicle. I have offered to drive it down but dont have a vehicle with a tow bar, plus costs to go down and then get me and car back is eye-watering.

I thought of boat transport as it cant be too different moving a boat (can it?).

Does anyone have any recommendations for transport companies that might help or any alternative ideas?
    Still learning.

He'd be cheaper buying another caravan in Portugal.

Boats are generally designed to be lifted. Putting slings round a caravan could be interesting and, quite possibly entertaining if you share J Clarkson, esq's view on them.

Towing would almost certainly be the cheapest option - use a truck and you'll be paying more per mile, more on the ferry and than you've got to add a driver with overnight stops.

I rather think Trop Cher has the right idea.

When does your caravan need to be in Portugal? Where in Porky does it need to be? Where from in UK?
I am travelling to Castro Verde (time schedule not set yet - so fairly flexible) I could cut your costs (and mine) and help your predicament at the same time, your call.

    Possibly true.

Will he need to move the caravan about The Algarve, how long will he be staying, what is his status ref registration/residency❓

Depending on the answers possible he should look at the driving licence and legal implications of the proposed plan. Not my part of ship but there are folk on Liveaboard Link who may well be able to answer most of his questions.

If he plan to live in the same place then buying a static caravan could be a cheaper more comfortable option.

Additionally, Brexit, if it even happens, may have some implications on his plans. Again licencing has been discussed in length in Liveaboard Link.

AVPOP - an expats organisation in Portugal may be able to offer advice and if necessary contacts.

    Hope this helps
