Agree, the forecast ainít looking good so if it goes ahead, I would suggest, rather than overnight on anchor at Stone Point, pull back to the buoys at the north (seaward) end of the Walton Channel well found and relatively well sheltered.

Dola - Believe you are planning to visit the Walton Yacht Basin prior to the event❓

If the weather proves bad, a late call could be to move the venue to the Basin.

If you speak with Richard at Bedwells he may be able to locate you all together on the big pontoon at the south western end of the Basin.

Not the same but possibly better than nothing and the kids could visit the delights of Walton on a wet afternoon.

Guess cat-flap will be open: Friday 16th about 1400/4.1m, Saturday 17th 1415/4.1m, Sunday 18th 1445/4m and Monday 19th 1515/3.9m. Big tides so flap could open earlier.

Remember a green flag is flown at the cat-flap when the entrance is open and this flag becomes visible before you get abeam Sole Reach (on the left before you get to the WFYC buildings).

We have had complete protection in the Basin this weekend✔️

ps Should have added, if any Pirates wish to have a short stop-over at the WFYC but not enter the Basin, there should be sufficient water on the club quay HW +/-1.5 hours but it drys completely at low water and the bottom isn’t too friendly.

The quay is to the right (west) of the clubhouse.

Come up to the cardinal channel splitter right in-front of the club house; take the right-hand channel (to Bedwell’s Boatyard) between the green and red topped poles and the club quay is on your left. Be aware there isn’t much water behind the green pole and there is a concrete slip behind the red pole.

The best turning point is just beyond the the quay with the deepest water close-to the small island or close to Bedwell’s quay, which also drys at LW but the bottom is clean concrete.

    Hope all this helps.

Looking at the latest forecast (16 to 22 knots SW) wind against tide and on the nose.
I am not willing to take my Grandchildren out in that - Don't want to scare them for future trips.
There for Sirenia (and the Spud Gun) will not be attending.
Hope those who can get there have a good time.

    Hi Clive

I think we're in agreement with you, what are everyone else's thoughts?

Alternatively how about postponing to the following weekend, the 24th?

Sorry to see that the weather is not playing ball.

For any contemplating diverting to the Walton Basin, this Saturday sees the start of the WFYC Cadet Week so there will be a lot of youngsters dinghy racing in the Walton Channel, The Twizzle and Foundry Reach and around the club for the next week. Loads of thrills and spills!

There is still space to moor in the Basin and the cat flap can open about 1215/3.91m today, 1245/3.95 tomorrow and 1315/3.98 (Springs) on Sunday.

Big tides so the cat flap could open earlier and for any contemplating driving, the lower road will flood at HW; access to the club will still be possible by the top road.

As the club (rather than Bedwells) manage the cat-flap at weekends, if you require access. still contact Bedwells during the working day (Mon - Fri), The WFYC Office or me.

Hope you all have a great weekend where ever you go.
