This is like someone blipping the throttle.

We think it could be stiff gear cables.

I think with electronic engines (not sure with the KAD44) that the supercharger kicks in temporarily on start up. Could this be a clue?

Check your alternator. We had intermittent screeching that turned out to be a seized alternator.

    Alternator belt.

    Are we taking bets ?

5:1 on. Max bet £1, no more than 3 bets !

I only bet if I know I am going to win !

Jrudge, Alternator belt I pay to restock your beer fridge. Something else and we're quits . Deal?

Not sure I follow the deal.

If it is the belt I get a beer fridge stocked ( you should see the size of it !) if not we are quits. Sounds win win !

Honestly Pete squeal is a belt. It eases post starting as batteries get slug of energy ( sub particles maybe!) from the alternator reducing demand and stopping belt slip

And wouldn't rpm rise be consistent with a belt slipping = reduction in load on the engine?

Perhaps the bet I offered was a bit one sided! Scrub that.

So we had the belts checked and adjusted last week and the supercharger oil was also checked and changed.

My partner was onboard this weekend, did about 10 miles down the coast with no issues. On his return the issue reoccurred whilst at sea at displacement speed (screeching, revs all over the place and some smoke). Not sure if was smoke or belt dust.

Kashurst suggested a blocked fuel filter so this will be investigated this week (perhaps out bumpy Ibiza trip disturbed some sediment at the bottom of the tank).

Our engine guy will take another look this week.

    Any other thoughts?
