    Default Undercoat and topcoat 50/50.

I have often used a little topcoat in the final undercoat to help with the final coverage, I know its a common practice.

Last night I put what I hope to be the last pre-kote on my Huntsman transom, the pre-kote for using under Mauritius blue is a sort of blue/grey colour, its not very dark, I thought I would add a drop of the Mauritius blue toplac to darken it down. I noticed while applying it that the top lac floats to the surface on the pre-kote. So I had to keep stirring it in. It made me think if it separates out like that, it might not be the cleverest thing to do.

I thought this might have generated a little discussion.

Last night I mixed some 50/50 white for my topsides, added a splosh of paint conitioner to prolong the wet edge, and a cap full of spirit.

Went on a treat and covered well, used a Hamilton Perfection plus synthetic brush, came up lovely, having preped with 400 grit wet or dry.

It works very well with (and is recommended by) Epifanes paints.

I lost confidence in International enamel and undercoat a while back but still like their Danboline bilge paint.

I find Pre-kote and Toplac to be excellent.

I tried the single pack epifanes once, never again!

I use Teamac. Storm is painted black but seems to look much better in the mat/undercoat rather than a glossy finish so also thinking of mixing the two for the final coat next year.
