The river moorings at Shotley are a long way away from big boats.

Founded by FB Cooke, no less.

I am another very happy member. Note the age limit of fifty on joining. Once the boat is in, she’s in.

The moorings at Shotley are a bit exposed in certain bad weather conditions. Some companies don't like insuring boats on the moorings, some will not insure for the Winter months.

The marina, of course, doesn't suffer such restrictions.

The largish sloop on its mooring opposite Halfpenny Pier looks pretty close when you come in on the Stenaline ferry from the Hook (is the yacht owned by an ex-Harwich pilot? - it's a fairly exclusive position).

Genuine question, why are they excellent? Low premium, good claims service? What are their policy restrictions compared to other brokers?

Low premiums. Few restrictions. Survey not required. The only claim I have made during the 14 years I have been with ECMYIA was made within of few weeks of my joining them and it was dealt without quibble. I was in a small French port and I could only get one estimate for the repair and not the three asked for but despite that they paid up.

It is a mutual society and works on the assumption that owners will maintain their boats to a reasonable standard in their own interest and not make trivial claims.

That's who I am with,You don't get a no claim bonus but the premium you pay is based on the last years claims.
