    Default Ideal small liveaboard motorboat

Hi there. Iím looking for a boat that will sleep 5, as much beam as possible preferably 6ft +. No more than 9 meters. Something thatís not going to leak and weíll built. Any suggestions?

Rethink your life choices? That's tiny for 5 people even if it wasn't shared with an engine, tanks and shaped like a boat. You'd be condemning yourselves to life as sardines in a plastic box. Not to mention all boats tend to leak eventually.

Every boat that is 9 metres long is going to be much wider than 6 feet - even narrow boats on the canals have a beam of 6'10" usually. The L/B ratio of an 'average' motor boat is around 3, so a 9 m. boat will have a beam of about 3 m. (or 10 feet) - and that is not considered to be 'wide' by any means.
A boat this size would be tight for 2 people to live on comfortably - and there really wouldn't be any spare room for the other 3 to even just visit occasionally on weekends.
Do you want this vessel to be a sedentary house boat, or should it be capable of coastal cruising, or even going offshore?
What sort of speed are you looking for, and what is your available budget to spend on the boat?

It might be worthwhile re-posting your question in the Motorboat Forum as well.

I don't know what your expectations are, but my partners and Iived aboard a 13m flybridge cruiser for 12 years - it was fine when we were on our own but even two visitors caused space and storage problems. And that was in Spain when we could use the outdoors. Can't see how you are going to do it on 9m.

    Far too small for 5.
