    Default Belt Cover

Hi - I was browsing the net looking at boats for sale and on one particular boat think it was a fairline - for a kad engine
Does anyone know who sells these covers might help to contain the belt dust to the cover.

Not sure I'm keen on them as I couldn't be bothered to remove them to check belts.

You shouldn't be generating belt dust..seems a poor idea to then hide a means of knowing something isnt right and maybe your belt is about to snap?
I know people go on about Kads and belt dust on here, but if all is set up properly, then I get none at all.
It is usually the alternator belt in my experience...15 min job and a few quid to put another on if you dont buy VP !
For some reason people want to boat about with a belt shredding dust all over the place...and then complain about the dust!

    Thanks for the replies.
It isn't a case of hiding any potential belt dust more containment.
If any belts did give in I always carry spares.
    Thanks again

My engine belt cover is something that has been bothering me for a long time. Every time I do my daily engine check I wonder about the condition of the belt. So I check for belt dust on the floor instead, however now you say it contains the dust
Because of the position of the engine, up against the fuel tank, I don’t think it would be a safety hazard if I removed the cover, it’s unlikely that stray hands and clothes could get caught there.
What do others do, keep or remove?

I think those are a grand idea. So many times I hear people say when diagnosing a problem to check this and check that while under way. A good example might be for instance determining where a boost pressure leak is coming from. Well I can tell you categorically you will not find me in the engine room having a grope and feel about when my knees are two inches from a half dozen belts just itching to slice and dice their tormentor. Superb! I want

Interesting, I'd assumed from the photo that they were metal.
