Default Watching Cowes fireworks from the mainland shore...

It's Cowes fireworks on Friday...is there a decent place to watch it from the mainland shore? The nearer to Hamble village the better, and easily accessible by car ideally.

    Thanks!

Meon shore just west of Hill Head Sailing Club (in front of the nature reserve) is pretty good.

The car park just past the entrance to Hamble Point Marina is right on the beach. Get there early and you get the gun emplacement for a raised view.

    No.

Calshot or Lepe beach are nearest, but at the distance from the mainland side its not really worth the bother.

    PS
For fireworks not far from Hamble go to Bursledon Regatta display, 24th Aug.

If you fancy scaling the saftey fence that has been around it for some time (a couple of years?) now.

As a Yorkshire man I thought it would be a really good idea to watch the fireworks , for free , from the mainland. In practice we had a pleasant enough evening but I found the fireworks at that range underwhelming. Next time I would take a boat over to the other side and suggest you do the same.

I would recommend watching them tomorrow from any pub anywhere really. You're likely to see about as much, and you won't get soaked (that's if they don't cancel it).
