Default Marine diesel course, not RYA

I was wondering if there is a marine diesel course available that's more in depth than the RYA one day course. I'm reasonably handy and know my way around an engine but I'd like to gain more knowledge about the different models around from someone who knows what they're doing rather than RTFMing the various models. No plans to use it commercially, just for the knowledge as my best mate is always changing his boat/engine and asking me to sort them out!

Many years ago. I was off work for an extended illness.
    I was bored.
Ended up doing one of those correspondence courses, which used to be advertised in readers digest ect. Or the other magazines you read in a doctors office while you wait.
It was on auto mechanic. Nobody in their right mind would regard me as a qualified mechanic after words.
But I found it interesting and quite useful
They used to be ones for Diesel engine mechanic.
I presume they are now on line rather than correspondence by mail.
If it’s knowledge at your own pace and time try find one.

That looks really interesting, especially for a young person starting out!
    Pardon?

Brilliant! Is there an upper age limit?

However, as I sometimes get claustrophobic I don't think I'd be able to take my turn in the barrel

That looks like the sort of thing. I'll have a look when I get back to the UK.

    In the meantime, youtube!

I have taken this course, albeit a few years ago. If was very good.
If found in the Brexit forum, please return to the real world.
