Default Boat cover/ hood suppliers. Business must be good!

Emailed, with photos and approx sizes, four boat cover/ hood suppliers to enquire about a replacement cover for our 16ft launch.

Not one has bothered to reply. Business must be so good that they can afford to ignore a new customer.

Even if they are chokka block, which is hard to believe in the present economic climate, a courteous no thank you is not difficult or time consuming. Especially with smartphones etc.

They’re probably moaning about the lack of work and how difficult customers are...

Welcome to the world of boating, many folks will have found themselves in a similar situation. When we wanted a very small basic cover made up by a local workshop it took so long that in the end the man virtually gave me the cover at less than cost just to make me go away.Suspect their real money is in sail making rather than faffing around with small jobs. ?
Down our way we use a caravan upholstery outfit, usually considerably cheaper and stuff gets done on time.

For a small cover your local chndlery might know someone (retired sailmaker employee?) with a sewing machine who could produce something credible for you if you have a template old cover? For many open day boats they are made in standard sizes so could you buy one and adapt for your launch ?

Try Mastercovers at Port Solent. They provide an excellent service and are happy to travel.
