Default ATYC. Thanks from all at RCC.

A resounding vote of thanks to everyone on the Thames who was involved in the organisation of the Rally at West India Dock over the weekend.
An outstanding event showing exactly how things should be done.Special thanks to the real king pin Richard Hart and all his scout team for their over and above the call of duty efforts to cater for around 100 boats and their grumpy old skippers and crew.
Do not recall my old scout troop in the 44th and 51st having any young ladies in those type of shorts as members.
    Well done.
Had the pleasure of a visit from the treasurer of the ATYC,Roger Haile, who only mentioned money once or twice and of course a mention of "Andrew" who was spotted walking up and down doing his absolute best to look as if he knew what was going on.

    One other heartfelt special thanks.
The scout leader who overcame/ignored a few problems and took charge of what would have been a very disappointed group of young and not so young would be kayakers. Chap took them all on an extended impromtu voyage of discovery round the docks.
First time experience in a kayak for my twin 6 year old grandkids.
Found them a helmet,a lifejacket and kayak, shoved them off and watched quietly nearby while they got on with it and 25 other happy souls.
He also persuaded one skipper who should be old enough to know better to jump into the dock.
    and
.......Yes we will be joining the ATYC.
    OG.
For everyone too bone idle to attend , you missed a real belter. No names no pack drill.
PS.OG may have had a hand in arranging the weather.

    13.00. Lock in.

We had total of 5 Tubby 36, others lurked elsewhere.

    Three generations of Princess.
    33 Fly
    35 Fly
    360 Fly
    ......hidden from view a Pedro,

The lock at a very ungodly hour.

    going home.

    Great to hear.
First one we have not attended for a long time. Heard good reports from our (UTMYC) attendees also.
Shame the competition was cancelled again. No point in flogging a dead horse.
    Well done the Scouts.

Picture taken a few years earlier note skyline and lack of buildings.

Looking at the listings of previous ATYC Rallys, in 1970 it was held at Sheerness.
They certainly were adventurous in those days.

They usually tried to alternate between non tidal and tidal.
I believe it used to be only Thurrock YC and Edith YC and possibly Gravesend YC that we’re based in tidal waters but now we have the honour of RCC there are no boundaries!
How about Ipswich or RN&SYC, Lowestoft?
