    Unhappy Fabio Buzzi 1943 - 2019

Sad evening as Fabio Buzzi and three expert pilots crash in a break water while attempting to break another time the Montecarlo - Venice record.

Navigate in the stars, the engineer, surely the most brave of them all.

Apart his FB Design professional firm he has in the past collaborated heavily with the following yards; Cigala and Bertinetti, Tecnomar before they jumped into large yachts with the TB series, Off Course, and lastly with Otam where he designed and consulted most of the models. He also sold two design two Sunseeker, first was the XS2000 (2005-10) and new Superhawk 38 what is a rebadged Stab 38 from his current lesisure/work offer. The other pilot was Dutch Erik Hoorn.

Edit 19/9/2019 as the other pilot who lost his life was Dutch Erik Hoorn and not as first reported John Ryan.

Gosh that is so sad. RIP all three who died, and I hope the injured person recovers as soon as possible. Mr Buzzi was a fine man. I had privilege of rubbing shoulders and exchanging a brief hello with him at a dinner a few months ago where he spoke eloquently, thoroughly captivating and entertaining his audience. Our boating world has lost one of its finest people.

Awful news and condolences to all those affected.

    Rest in peace gentlemen.

A true giant of the sport and the industry who will be sadly missed. Also the same for the other two that have so sadly passed and one injured.

    RIP All involved

FB seemed such a humble man, almost dismissive of his own legend.

Rip to a proper legend. There's no good way to die but I suppose he died doing what he loved. A life well lived.

    Terrible news.

I had the pleasure of meeting him years ago when I raced and he was an absolute gentleman and would always make time for a chat about his passion. A real loss to the boating world. RIP
